Summer Jewelry Making Camp

SUMMER JEWELRY CAMP:

Silverwork Studios offers a week-long jewelry-making camp. Learn to make your own jewelry at a workshop-style camp in our studio in San Rafael.  

We will teach the skills, steps and safety precautions to design your own jewelry including how to solder. Over the course of the week, the campers will design and craft their own sterling silver ring, bracelet, necklace and earrings with their choice of gemstone. (Please see complete activity list below) Each camper will also get to customize a jewelry box for their shiny new collection. 

Jewelry Camp is for beginners aged 12+. No experience necessary, just bring your enthusiasm and a desire to learn! Limit 12 campers per session.

WHEN:  

Camps will run Monday - Friday, 11-3pm 

Camp weeks: June 24th - June 28th OR July 8th - 12th

Limited to 12 campers per week

COST & REGISTRATION: 

• $450 per camper for the week 
• Cancellation policy: 100% refund with 30 days notice before start of camp 
• 50% refund thereafter 

CAMP PREP: 

• Bring a snack and a water bottle for breaks 
• Wear comfortable clothes 
• Pull long hair back

CAMP CURRICULUM: 

Day 1: Studio orientation. Learn about: jewelry making tools, safety, setting a stone into a bezel, cutting and measuring chain, using jump rings to connect jewelry, stamping metal. Create a necklace, earrings and a custom stamped tag. Learn about our collection of gemstones. 

Day 2: Introduction to soldering. Learn about: how soldering works, safety, types of solder, cutting and fitting bezel wire and silver sheet, cutting and sizing ring band, soldering metal. Create a sterling silver bezel and ring. 

Day 3: Soldering day 2. Learn about: more experience soldering, texturing metal. Use your new soldering skills to create another piece of your own design: cuff bracelet, gemstone ring, custom pendant. 

Day 4:  Metal clay: learn how to prep and make projects out of metal clay. Learn about ways to make a chain

Day 5: Start your final project design. Design of your final project using your new skills of jewelry making.
