Silverwork Studios Announces "Rejewel": Upcycling Pre-Loved Donated Jewelry to Benefit MarinArts

Silverwork Studios, a make-your-own jewelry workshop studio in San Rafael's Northgate Mall, is thrilled to announce "ReJewel", a new fundraising initiative to reimagine previously loved jewelry to benefit Marin Arts, the non-profit supporting the arts and artists in Marin. In the spirit of Earth Day, ReJewel launches today as a way to upcycle and give new life to pre-loved pieces of jewelry donated by the community.

Silverwork Studios will accept donations of both fine and costume jewelry for "rejeweling" beginning in May. The donated jewelry will be reimagined by the Silverwork staff and extended team of budding jewelry designers including local students, volunteers and the studio's own makers. A collection of fabulous rejeweled pieces will be offered for resale at a fundraising gala to benefit MarinArts later this year.

"We are so excited about the ReJewel program and the promise it holds for creating totally unique new pieces that people will want to wear, training the next generation of designers, and supporting the MarinArts organization that champions the entire art community in Marin," said Kel Konis, Co-Founder of Silverwork Studios. "We think it's a win-win-win idea and will be loads of fun for everyone involved!"

More details about donation opportunities will be forthcoming. Donors can opt to receive either a tax-deductible receipt for the value or a discount on a guided jewelry-making workshop at Silverwork Studios. Jewelry can also be appraised for an additional fee.

LAUNCHING AT NORTHGATE MALL IN MARIN: SILVERWORK STUDIOS

SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA, October 26, 2022: Silverwork Studios, a make-your-own silver and gemstone jewelry workshop, is a startup that opens in Marin on October 26th. Located at Northgate Mall in San Rafael, the studio is a custom jewelry making space where anyone can make their own jewelry at a real studio in a directed workshop. The studio offers over 30 different kinds of beautiful gemstones that make fabulous rings, bracelets, pendants and earrings. The studio runs guided workshops Wednesday-Sunday and also offers gift cards that are perfect for the holidays.

Silverwork Studios is a partnership between Co-Founders, Amy Fitzgerald and Kelly Konis, both of Marin, who have been best friends since they met on the high school swim team in Amarillo, Texas. Amy and Kelly took a jewelry making workshop together for fun, and the friends were absolutely thrilled with the pieces they made. They were inspired to open a studio of their own, where they help complete beginners design their own jewelry with hands-on help in guided workshops.

Kelly, the Creative Director, believes everybody can be creative and is focused on enabling a delightful experience for clients. “Making a piece of jewelry yourself might seem challenging at first. But in our guided workshops, we help our budding makers plan their design and craft a piece of jewelry that is uniquely theirs. The experience of making something beautiful with your own hands is exhilarating and lots of fun. Silverwork Studios is a place to let your creativity bloom, to make some smashing wearable art…and to have a good time!”

Amy, the CEO, has big dreams for Silverwork Studios, her brainchild. “We’re launching the studio in our own neighborhood where our close friends and neighbors can try their hand at making their own jewelry, just like Kelly and I did. We’re so excited to open our doors and offer this compelling workshop experience in Marin. We hope to be wildly successful, and our grand vision is to create a franchise of studios throughout California one day.”

The founders share a passion for art, and Kelly is the daughter of the late painter and instructor, Ben Konis. Dedicated to making art a part of life and supporting art in the community, Silverwork Studios showcases artists both young and old in the gallery-like setting and will donate 1% of profits to art programs for local school children. The studio will launch with an exhibit of extraordinary visual artworks focused on a mandala theme, featuring work from artist Romi Marks and students from Mary Silveira Elementary.
