In a world where sustainability is more important than ever, DIY (Do It Yourself) culture and up-cycling have found passionate followers. People are searching for ways to reduce waste, tap into creativity, and give new life to old materials. At Silverwork Studios, we’re proud to embrace and champion these concepts every day through our unique jewelry-making experiences and products.
DIY and up-cycling aren’t just trendy—they're part of a larger cultural shift. Today, people are more mindful about what they consume and how they can contribute to a healthier planet. Making something by hand or reimagining what already exists fosters creativity, environmental responsibility, and personal satisfaction. It's a philosophy that fits naturally into everything we do.
Renewed Beauty: Recycled Sterling Silver Rings
One of the ways we bring up-cycling to life is through our recycled .925 sterling silver rings—a project that transforms scrap silver into meaningful, wearable art.
We start by melting scrap sterling silver into a ball, giving it a fresh start. Then, we carefully hammer and shape the silver into charming symbols: a heart, a moon, a star, a paw, or an ocean wave. Each charm is a small work of art, full of character and story.
Recycled Sterling Silver Moon Ring
After the charm is made, we solder it onto a .925 sterling silver band, creating a one-of-a-kind ring that celebrates both beauty and sustainability. These rings remind us that with a little creativity and care, something discarded can be transformed into something treasured.
Recycled Silver Heart Ring
Each recycled ring isn’t just jewelry; it’s a statement about renewal, resilience, and thoughtful craftsmanship.
You can make this with our help at the studio, or you can buy an already made piece online or at our studio. Watch the process of making here.
Our Rejewel Program
Our passion for upcycling doesn’t end with silver scraps. Through our Rejewel Program, we give new life to old jewelry, breathing fresh energy into forgotten or broken pieces.
We accept donations of unwanted jewelry and go to work: cleaning, repairing, and in many cases, reimagining them. Sometimes a simple fix—like replacing a clasp or polishing a tarnished chain—is all that’s needed. Other times, we get more creative. For example, when we receive a lone earring missing its mate, we see an opportunity: it becomes a charm for our popular charm bar, where clients design their own custom charm bracelets.
Every piece we restore or reimagine tells a new story, blending the old with the new in beautiful, surprising ways.
Affordable Treasures with Heart
Our Rejewel pieces are offered at affordable prices here at the studio—just $20 per piece of jewelry—making sustainable, meaningful jewelry accessible to everyone. For those who love a little treasure hunt, we even have a $5 treasure box filled with quirky and delightful finds.
Even better, a portion of these proceeds from Rejewel support Marin Arts, our favorite local non-profits. Marin Arts works tirelessly to strengthen the arts community, support arts education, and promote local artists. By purchasing from our Rejewel collection, our customers not only take home a beautiful piece of up-cycled jewelry, they also contribute to a vibrant, creative community.
It’s a full circle of creativity, sustainability, and giving back.

Living Our Motto
At Silverwork Studios, we live by the motto:
"One man’s trash is another man’s treasure."
And we see it come true every day. Whether it’s melting silver into a new shape or transforming an orphaned earring into a charm, we believe in the beauty and potential of second chances. Each piece is a reminder that the old isn’t necessarily broken or useless—it’s simply waiting for a little imagination and care.
DIY and upcycling offer a slower, more thoughtful alternative to mass production. They celebrate craftsmanship, individual expression, and respect for materials. In a fast-paced, disposable world, this approach feels both refreshing and essential.
